My lovely & accomplished author friend Kim Hansted Diede recently honored me with a blog entry about my recently published book Grace, Grit & Gratitude and meeting me on an airplane three years ago. I thought I would shoot a photo with her latest book Celia’s Gifts, when I recently flew. Her blog speaks about our magical meeting, the stunning parallels between us & the friendship that has developed over the last few years. ♥️

Check this magical story! Many years ago I was flying back from Minnesota after visiting my son. I sat next to a lovely lady & we started talking. She told me she was an author! 🤠 This peaked my curiosity as it was always a dream of mine to write a book. Meeting Kimberly sparked a seed of inspiration that maybe someday I could write a book too?!? 🤔

We stayed in touch & I ended up reading four of her books in her series, which I loved!

When the virus hit I decided IT WAS TIME to pour my energy into my own book baby. Kimberly has been one of my greatest cheerleaders along the way. When I felt absolutely frustrated and stuck, she would gently remind me to KEEP GOING & getting stuck was part of the process. Lo & behold, my book Grace, Grit & Gratitude: A Cancer Thriver’s Journey from Hospice to Full Recovery with the Healing Power of Horses was born 15 months later! 🎉

Other cool similarities: I realized after the fact that we both went through the amazing Self Publishing School AND had the same writing coach, Ramy Vance! Small world, eh? 🤩

Be honest. What runs through your mind when you first take your seat on an airplane? Do you hope the stranger sitting next to you will be a brilliant conversationalist and the two of you will enjoy a lively conversation for the duration of your upcoming flight? Or do you avert your eyes, pull out a book, and pop some earbuds in, sending the signal that you’re not interested in small talk?

I default to option #2 most often, although I do like to at least say ‘hello’ before I bury my nose in my latest read. But magic can unfold when we open ourselves up to conversation.

I highly recommend you check out Kimberly’s books! She has 6-7 books in her Whispering Pines series and all of them weave a compelling, uplifting tale. 📚 Check out her website here!

I owe so much gratitude to her for the continual inspiration & encouragement in publishing my book. If anyone has written a book, you know how much hard work it is! 😅 📚

Thanks dear Kim for being such an inspirational force!
