Tribute to Sinéad O'Conner

Short dance video I created to commemorate Sinéad & to help process the anger, grief & shock I felt about her tragic death.

Sinéad O’Conner’s recent death on July 26, 2023 created a ripple of shock and grief over the globe. Sinéad heavily influenced me through out my young, formative years and through out my life. She was a bold, bright being who was not afraid to speak and live her truth. Her music was a prime manifestation of her vulnerable, sensitive and brilliant soul.

i was inspired to create a blog post for her to commemorate who she was and what she stood up for. I created this short dance clip for her recently and wrote these pieces below.

May we all live courageously and speak from our heart as she did! 🔥

Please read below for my two written entries about her.

Feel free to share your thoughts below. HOW DID SINÉAD IMPACT YOUR LIFE?

Entry one - July 26, 2023 written right after I found out about her death:

The passing of a legend. 💔
She led us all with passion & fierce grace.

The very strange thing is that in the past few weeks I’ve been thinking of Sinéad a lot and listening to her music. I’ve been following her since she emerged, at such a young age. I have been wondering how she was, as I know she struggled with depression. I also knew that the path of young immediate stardom & aging must have been tough for her. It is not easy to age as a beautiful, iconic woman in our culture. 🥀

Then I found out her son, Shane killed himself last year, at the age of 17. Like Lisa Marie Presley’s son did, a year before her recent death, at the same age as Sinéad here (56 or so). 💔

Personally, if my son killed himself, I would have a very hard time staying on the planet, as my son is the battery pack to keep me going forward and facing my own difficulties. I understand. The weight must have been very heavy.

I know she struggled internally for a long time too.
Be free Sinéad 🕊️
Thank you for inspiring us & paving the way for the wild feminine.
You moved us all deeply
We love you

Entry Two - August 2 writing to accompany the video link I posted above on YouTube:

Sinéad’s passing is a great tragedy that is rippling through humanity. This video is a tribute to her. 🥀
The tragedy is that she died in a terrible state of heartbreak after the death of her son. No one should go through all that she did, starting with her total rejection from the music business & society for telling the truth about the the Catholic Church.

She inspired & taught me so much. She was just a few years older than me. I grew up illuminated by the paths she forged & the music she made, while she spoke up fervently for women’s rights. ⚡️

This is also a statement of anger towards society that does not support healthy mental health & suicide prevention and awareness! 🔥

Thank you Sinéad O'Connor for your love & light. Your loss is greatly felt. I hope you know how loved you are‼️‼️‼️
